This beautiful 3 storey victorian building had just been finished by the developer but it lacked a certain homeliness and the personality of its new owners, after a recommendation we were appointed as interior designers and to use our expertise in lighting design to transform the property into a warm and inviting family home that had an understated hint of luxury and glamour while remaining fully functional to both family life, business life and entertaining.
After carefully listening to our clients the brief became a clear breakdown of uses over the three floors. We wanted to work with as many of the high quality materials already in place like the solid Oak floors and carpets, and add details and layers of interest where the property needed it.
The ground floor is a fully functioning family area with a south facing kitchen area that backed onto the rear garden acting as the hub of the property.
The large windows ensures the natural light in this room is fantastic! The high ceilings mean the room feels very spacious but also has plenty of wall space that needs breaking up.
We created the stunning fireplace feature wall with split faced stone tiles from floor to ceiling and then positioned three directional down lights in 3000 kelvin above to cast highlights and shadows down the surface. This sits next to our custom media cabinet in mystery Oak to house toys an av equipment.
There are accents of Teal such as the three Torus pendant lights above the island and soft furnishings like the rug and cushions in matching colour while the ceiling recess was finished in metallic champagne coloured plaster that shimmers with the cornice lighting detail running the entire edge of each recess.
A dining room with tall triple height atrium above sits alongside and includes custom sound proofed artwork to help soften the acoustics.
The drawing room at the front of the house was created as a more grown up adult room to be used as an entertaining and relaxing space. Again we used a rich ceiling covered in a golden metalic plaster and illuminated all the way around with 3000k LED all controlled by Rako and Crestron. Custom furniture with leather drawers and doors sits either side of the fire place on gold tinted stainless steel legs.
Tv cabinet has sliding pocket hinged doors so it can be viewed from all locations in the room without being a focal point when not in use.
Illuminated custom built shelving all connected to the integrated lighting system. Designed to line up perfectly between the skirting and top of the door frame.
Antique wheel is illuminated with a focused spot light to show off the stunning texture and add warmth and detail to the room. Playing with scale and size between the elements of furniture, wall mirrors, artworks and lamp shades.
Entrance WC with gold sink and deliberately intense graphic wallpaper.
The first floor was by far our biggest challenge. This needed to incorporate a pair of highly individual offices with interconnecting bathroom as well as a huge amount of storage and the master bedroom, dressing area and master ensuite. Meeting the style and needs of each client and keeping a common language of materials and finishes was a challenge we relished taking on. Clean lines, carefully selected materials, mixed with our trademark lighting details and impeccable craftsmanship resulted in a pair of wonderful working environments for two very busy individuals.
Storage is a premium so we found ways to utilise every square inch. Pull out shoe racks on heavy duty runners with matching leather handles to the dressing room.
Bespoke bamboo office desk and shelving / storage units with RGB lighting details. Clean lines and proportions give this office a masculine and timeless look.
White lacquered shelving and details gives a perfect balance to warmth of the bamboo, a material with much sentimental value from the clients previous living arrangements.
Polished Corian desk and dressing table surface work nicely against the warmth of the bamboo and bronzed mirrors on the wardrobe doors. RGB lighting details ensure a common design language with the other office and areas of the house.
Designing a room to function as an office and a dressing room was possibly the most challenging room to work on but with some careful space planning and material selections the end result is a joy to use and be in. The textured gold wallpaper ensures the room is sophisticated and glamorous yet also practical and professional.
Custom light fittings meet white carrara marble surfaces, the same split faced stone from the kitchen makes its way above the bath and is illuminated via a full width LED strip. We re built the arch in the corner instead of having a dead storage cupboard.
Blue Bazazza mosaic tiles give that tropical ping of colour to the shower cubicle.
Illuminated Bubble rod in our twin pairs of bathroom wall lights.
Suede upholstered doors with leather handles to match storage units elsewhere in the house. The storage chest is a mobile laundry basket that doubles as changing stool and hop up bench. All finished in manhattan Oak to match the bespoke headboard and bedside tables.
1960’s brass lights from New York flank the custom illuminated head board with matching bedside tables and leather handles. More accents of teal and pale gold adorn the cushions, lampshades and upholstery fabrics.
Gold CCTV floor light next to day bed and full length curtains with pleated blinds.
The second floor consists of childrens room, guest room and media room with two en suite bathrooms.
Fully fitted bedroom furniture with pull out guest bed.
Ride on toy storage train.
Day light projector screen in 4k definition. KEF surround sound system in Dolby Atmos.
Colour controlled starscape ceiling with lighting details help set the tone and design for the rest of the house. Huge kingfisher colour sofa by The Sofa and Chair Company with matching ottoman all sitting above RGB lighting details.
Behind the projector is the media room with all the AV and lighting control equipment, with 90% of this project turned around in 2 months it meant there were many late intense nights with a team of up to 30 people on site on certain days.
Media cabinet and popcorn machine help finish of this media room and with the sound proofed walls it can be used in full effect with guests or Children sleeping nearby.
Below and inside the steel panels are an RGBW digital LED light ing system and water feature to create interesting sound and light details on the split faced stone tiles.
The bespoke table is made from solid teak and travertine around a hidden ground mounted stainless steel frame work.
All lighting is controlled by Rako digital lighting system.
Lighting on feature wall can be colour changed to any colour and brightness using your ipad or iphone.
